Company History

In late 1989 G.E. Lighting approached John to solve a problem of red dark adaptation lamps which are used extensively in ship, submarines, aircraft and military vehicles of all types and sizes. The old cadmium based fluorescent lamps were being phased out, John developed a special silicone sleeve that only emitted red light at 610nm. The products are available to all Nato countries and was featured in the film "The Hunt for Red October" starring Sean Connery.

During 1990 a blackmailer put smashed fluorescent lamp glass splinters into baby food, this appeared to the Health and Safety Executive that overhead fluorescent lamps could fall, smash and contaminate food products. This prompted a leading manufacturer of soups to commission John to solve the problem. John develop a coating called "Shattershield" and "Safe-T-Coat" which when placed on a fluorescent lamp would in the event of breakage contain all glass and toxic substances without any leakage. This was so successful that John was approached by investors who wished to participate in this new product. The range of products are now recognised by the market as being the best Class 1 protection available for the Food Industry.

In 1995 John developed his Ronsil silicone and rubber products company, having access to injection moulding and extrusion machines, with chromaticity computers for colour matching. This allowed John to match any coloured silicone products and develop new colours.

During late 1998 John placed several lighting products with CPC PLC the Electronics and Electrical mail order people of Preston and further meetings with CPC management identified that John's established customers abroad may well have a requirement for quality components parts. John set his staff to work on informing Ronfell customers about these new products and services. Ronfell Components markets and supplies worldwide a full range of electronic products.

After many years John and his family now has total control over the Company and its products which are distributed to all parts of the world, in mail order catalogues and used in supermarkets, retail stores and high street shops.

Mr Ronfell holds several patents and is a fellow of several institutions and continues to solve clients problems. He is always open to bring new talent and investment into the companies and welcomes a direct approach in confidence to email: ronfell@ronfell.com
